There was a time when all I did was to doubt myself. My mind was filled with negative thoughts, even though I didn’t deliberately think of negative situations. It was just the way I was, and I guess, most of us are.
At numerous instances, I felt really clueless and lost and whosoever I came in contact with advised me to 'stay positive'. Great advice, I would say but it wasn't good enough for me. And once again, my thoughts were muddled. Staying positive sounded so right but I had no idea where to start and what to do to lift my spirits. I had no one to discuss these things with and the thought of talking to someone about it made me feel like a fool. This went on for a long time.
In a nutshell, life wasn’t as good as it should have been for me. But I don’t regret any part of it because those experiences taught me life’s most important lessons. Every little incident led me to NOW and I am grateful for everything I have been through.

Also, one other thing that helps me believe this even more is 'smiling'. Make a conscious effort to smile all day. You must be familiar with the saying, 'You Reap What You Sow'. So, when we smile at people, they smile back and that in turn enkindles a positive energy within us. It's that simple!

3. Read Self Development Books
I can't stress enough how important this is. Among all the things I've done to improve my life, reading has been the most effective. I have endured both good and bad experiences by reading books. I once picked a book that was about a woman who suffered from serious medical problems. I didn't think much of it as I was enjoying reading that book. However, half way though it, I developed an illness, a serious infection. I was appalled! I wasn't sure but I sensed it had something to do with the book I was reading, so I chose not to finish it and stopped reading immediately. It was years later, that I learned about the effects of reading and how we can unknowingly attract by bad things into our lives by reading the wrong books. Therefore, I suggest you guys to read books that enlighten you, a book that make you happy and that teaches you different techniques of positive living.

I first learned about affirmations after watching a video of Louise Hay. If you don't know who she is, go ahead and Google her. She is an amazing soul and and one of my gurus.
So what are affirmations? Affirmations are positive statements that shape our reality. Everything we say and think constantly shapes our future but most of what we say throughout the day is negative, and as a result makes us feel futile at the end of the day. And it's just a vicious cycle that keeps repeating itself. So, if you want to change your life, change your words and your thoughts will improve automatically. Millionaires around the world use this method to boost their mood and to start the day on a positive note.
Here are some powerful daily affirmations to have a super happy and positive day:
- I love and approve of myself.
- I let go of all negative thoughts and make space for positive thoughts.

Never watch the news or read distressing articles or books before you sleep, instead, recite a few positive affirmations and drift off to your sweet slumberland. You'll wake up feeling positive and fresh.
